Join to learn about the events of 1948 in Palestine, the ethnic-cleaning of Palestinians, and how since then, Palestinians live an ongoing Nakba that can be observed in their everyday lives and in the current events. The event will offer a historical perspective of the Nakba of 1948, as well as contemporary perspective on the ongoing settler-colonialism, illegal occupation, and Israeli apartheid regime.
Lorenzo Veracini- Associate Professor in history and politics at Swinburne’s Institute for Social Research in Australia. His research focuses on the comparative history of (settler) colonial systems. He has co-edited the Routledge Handbook of the History of Settler Colonialism (2016) and is Editor in Chief of Settler Colonial Studies.
Baha Hilo- An activist and sociologist from Palestine, he has worked with various education and advocacy groups including UNRWA, FFIPP, and the Olive Tree Campaign. He currently works with To Be There, a political tourism initiative that seeks to bring justice, equality, and freedom for all Palestinians.
Rami Salameh -An alumnus of the Graduate Institute from the Department of ANSO. Currently, he is the Chairperson of the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Studies at Birzeit University in the West Bank.
